Tamron 1.4x (SOLD) and 2x (SOLD) Pz-AF Teleconverters

PRICES REDUCED to equivalents with eBay fees removed.

Greetings, been a while since I've been around here.

My two Tamron TCs need to go. I don't use them and they're too much $$$ for me to sit on. They're both in stellar condition as I'm confident the pics will show. Prices for each include USPS Priority Mail shipping and PayPal fees.

My hands are not included but for a small modeling fee I can enhance your product shots as well. Sorry, just kidding

Please let me know if any additional pics are required. Shoot me a PM if interested, thanks for looking!

1.4x - $250 for the next 24 hours only (from noon 3/22)

2x - $90 (SOLD)

Hi. Will the 1.4 work with a DA 300mm 1.4 SDM? There seems to be a lot of conflicting data out there on compatibility. Thanks.

I've not had the pleasure of having the DA300 so I can't attest yea or nay to their compatibility.

Hi!
I haven't used x1.4 with DA 300 4.0, but I use it with F 300 4,5 and I am pleased with results.

If you're asking about SDM in general, yes it should work -- it does have the correct contacts. (I had the 1.4x, and it worked with my Sigma HSM lens.) So unless there is something special about the 300/4, it should be good.

On D P R-eview there is a much esteemed member whose observations are that the combination of Tamron 1.4x Pz-AF TC and DA* 300mm f4 is quite fiddly when it comes to focusing, requiring multiple presses of the button and so on and so forth.

Please dig this up and read it. I think the link comes up in a Google search if you type in "DA*300/4 + Tamron 1.4X PZ_Af experiment." It is the first link.

EDIT: This does not take away from the quality of the converters. They are really good for what they do.

You will of course get "hunting" behavior with some lenses simply because the light loss with the TC attached adversely affects the AF function (and a base lens of f/4 is the slowest you'd want to go -- a f/2.8 will work better), but strictly speaking the contacts/electronics should be compatible.

Thanks. Yes, both will be completely electrically compatible. But as far as performance goes that's going to depend on the body, the lens, and the lighting conditions. When I used the 1.4x on my FA100/2.8 macro it worked fine...I mean, the FA100 macro is a tough-to-AF lens as it is, but it worked, and better as the light got better.

Hope that helps everyone out.

FYI: I've used both of these TCs with great success on Sigma HSM lenses as well.

Replied your PM. As has been discussed above it has SDM contacts, so it will work. How well it works, the performance, is hard to determine.

That's not trying to be evasive, just truthful. Like I said above, after experience with TCs on Canon and Olympus as well, it can be a question of and combination of the particular body, particular lens, and conditions.
