[SOLD] FS: Pentax FA* 300mm f 4.5- $1095 shipped conus (elsewhere negotiable)

I have the above lens in excellent condition. It has a few small scratches on the body and hood but is otherwise superb. Glass clean- no haze, fungus, or appreciable internal dust. Aperture blades snappy. Ships w/ original box, caps, and soft case. I will also include a tripod mount that I built for this lens for free- it doesn't scratch the body, and allows camera rotation. The price is low, because I need the $!! Paypal or money order preferred. PM me w/ questions.

Thanks,
John

If I didn't have what I do I'd jump on it. Good luck. I just couldn't help posting and asking why you'd part with such a gem?

Yeah, it's a gem. I'm just not using it as often as I thought I would, and I need the cash for other photography related items.

Bump for a great lens! I'll never sell my copy (well, maybe if the DA* turns out to be lighter & better).

The DA* is an F4 lens, and it has a 77mm front thread size. I don't think it'd be lighter than the FA one

I myself would be keeping mine even the DA*300/4 turns out to be better (don't know how can Pentax make a better 300mm lens except the F2.8 one ...)

BTW, John, pity to see you let this one go ...

Yeah, it's kinda sad. But, I'm sure it will make someone happy- it certainly did so for me when I used it.

I'm just curious how you would use that tripod collar on a tripod.

Just screw the tripod mounting plate into the base of the wooden mount, and you're ready to go. I used it several times, and the balance is quite good with a k10d.

I added some pics of the tripod mounted lens w/ k10d. I know that many people seek the F* 300, because of its built in mount. This mount more than adequately addresses this issue and is easily installed/removed.

Very inventive collar. A little silver paint and you could market that to Bogen.
