Item Description
This is a genuinely sad sale for me. I have owned this lens for just under a year and I genuinely get a little excited flutter in the tummy every time I click it on to the camera - it's got beautiful EVERYTHING. Gorgeous 9 blade bokeh, fantastic colours and contrast (esp. at f2 and slower) and a wonderful multi-coating that makes cleaning a breeze. Also really quite incredible sharpness even at f1.2 (see the photos with the 100% crops). f1.2 has a NOTICEABLE difference in depth of field from f1.4 - which is one of the reasons I am sad to sell this, it really is my only lens that takes photos like no other lens I have, but alas, I need autofocus with some of the paid work I am getting, and I can't justify two super-fast 50s.
The other thing is, I was kind of collecting Vivitar Series 1 lenses, so it makes me sad to know I'll probably never have this lens again - I might be able to get it as the Revuenon badged version, but the ONLY time I have seen this version for sale is the time I bought it. I paid big money to have it shipped from Finland.
This lens has a "drawback" at f1.2 (only at f1.2) which is that highlights kind of "glow", making them look soft sometimes. I'll admit, that occasionally this isn't pleasant, but when controlled, for example on something shiny and silver like the Zeiss camera in my sample photos - it can look absolutely incredible. The sample shots show what the lens can do when testing it - you can imagine it in the field!
The first and third sample shots (of the Zeiss camera) are the full photo, the 2nd and 4th are a 100% crop of those photos - both photos are taken at f1.2 as you can tell by the bokeh and highlights - but the sharpness is still major as those 100% crops show.
The sample shot from an actual shoot (a wedding) shows you what it can do at f2 - you can see why I'll miss it.
I'd upload more sample shots but there is a limit of 10 - message me if you'd like to see more, I'm more than happy to show what this, the Ferrari of lenses can do.

Revuenon 55mm F1.2 MC Lens Reviews - Miscellaneous Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Note, the reviews still do not have my OWN on there, which would be a 10 for everything had I reviewed it.

The lens is in EXCELLENT condition cosmetically, optically and mechanically. There is really nothing else to say, I basically can't find fault with it except for the original front cap - has some light marks on it (see photos) but nothing serious. Also comes Pentax rear cap and a rubber 3 stage hood - I forgot to put it back on and photograph it, but yes it's a handy hood and you can still get the lens cap on it with it. WIll also include neopropylene (or whatever that wetsuit stuff is called) pouch which fits it nicely.

Nice lens.

I have Vivitar Series 1 55/1.2 too, but with the rubberized focus grip. These two copies are the only ones I ever seen.

Yep, super-rare, ultra sharp and just beautiful all round, which is why I'm not going to budge heaps on the price - however make me an offer if you're hesitating!
