[SOLD] FS: Pentax FA* 200mm F2.8

Sorry guys, I'm canceling the sell. As some said below, it's not a good time to letting this one go. Besides, it's really hard for me to let it go anyway. Better keep it for good. Sorry for wasting your time and the bandwidth ...

For one thing the build on this one is quite a bit more robust and it's heavier. Second this was designed for 35mm so it is full frame and has an aperture ring. And it is legendarily sharp with IQ that is second to none around these lengths. Maybe a touch more CA but not an issue with PP.

And heck it's just plain good looking. Black lenses are nice but if you had the money (I wish I did!!) a Silver lens just drools expensive.

Edit: DA* 200mm is FF as well.

Why Mis? Because I just emptied the bank on a 50-500 and a 31mm. If it was next month I'd buy it in a second. So would we be in a bidding war?

Uhm, last time i check the DA* 200 is indeed a FF lens, despite the DA notion. The FA, however, has the aperture ring, that I highly value. And I definitely prefer the look of the FA* than the ordinary look of the DA*. I would take this, except my eyes are fixed on the FA* 200 macro. And to be honest, this lens is gotta be one of the cleaner/minter looking FA* 200 i've seen for a while.

Hi Peter, good to see you're starting to build your kit back.

No worries on a bidding war. I just dropped $950 to fix the frickin car (which I bought used 4 weeks ago) so I won't be buying lenses in a while.

My comment about bad timing was regarding the DA* 200mm which has just hit the stores and can be found for $906 (which incidentally, I note is $44 less than what my car cost to fix). Frank should have offered this lens 3-6 months ago, I'm sure it wouldn't have lasted very long on the marketplace. However, if I had the money, I would definitely prefer an aperture ring, all other qualities being equal. If Sigma can do it, why can't Pentax?

I've compared both lenses. To be honest, I can't see much difference at all between these two optically. Obviously the FA one has an extra aperture ring, the DA one is weather sealed, has SDM. Which one is better? It all boils down to personal preference. I like the silver look of FA* lenses better.

And yes, the DA*200 lens is a FF lens too, but it won't work well with most old film cameras, or non-A extension tube.

Well, even the DA*200 just came out, I'm sure some prefer the FA*200/2.8 like myself But it's true, the prices for some FA* lenses are not as great as several months back ... Unfortunately I bought this one at the peak time of FA* lens hike (cost me a fortune)

A Bigma? That's nice. And the FA31 is indeed anther great lens (one of the best by Pentax).

I'd love to have the FA*200/4 macro too, if I could find one, at a reasonable price ...

I don't know. Kinda in SELL mood right now. Got too many lenses but too little time to shoot nowadays
