Bump for the best value for the money on a 500mm focal lenght... !
For those who wonder if this lens is better or not that the Bigma (50-500MM)

There are maybe some differences, but not that much... and the opinions are generally for the 50-500mm I agree. but not always...

See that link . The 50-500mm vs. 150-500mm shootout and Telephoto FAQ?s by Robert O?Toole - SIGMA Blog | SIGMA Blog

I have another link that shows that the 50-500mm has an advantage of being sharper more uniform from center to the edges, at mid ranges focals, but also shows that the 150-500mm is sharper in the center part at the 500mm end (tests on Canon versions of it) : Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens Image Quality

And to be frak, if ou want to shoot birds, ther are often too far away, and we need to crop the image, so the fact that it is sharper in the center may be a good thing.

I talked to the Sigma's service center in Canada, and they told me they are about the same in terms of quality and sharpness...

If one want to add a premium of 700-1000$ on the 50-500mm, let's go for it !

But, IMHO, for the money, I think the 150-500mm delivers very good quality/cost ratio. Don't forget it's a f6.3 at 500mm, so good light conditions and good technique is needed to perform at its best. The one important advantage of those lenses is the Optical Sabilizer that is very efficient (better than the pentax in-body SR), and I would love to have such OS on my old FA8 250-600mm.

But anyways, I think its not that evident to conclude that the 50-500mm (bigma) is the all around winner, and I will not get more into that debate here... I owned the 120-400mm for long enough to evaluate it's capabilities. I now own the 150-500mm but bought the FA* 250-500mm just a week after, so I haven't tried it much andthis is why I not need it anymore...
I bought it with confidence in the meantime I found something a longer FL lens, and that meantime was just very short... . (not to say that the FA* was much much (7 times) more expensive!!!
