Bower MC7 2X Teleconverter (same as Vivitar MC7), $50 - sells new for 3x asking price

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Bower MC7 2X Teleconverter (same as Vivitar MC7) for Pentax

Asking Price
75 USD

Item Location
Memphis (United States)

Item Description
Comes with box, front & back caps and pouch.

I'm selling all my Pentax gear to switch to Full frame. I purchased this teleconverter from Amazon in June to use on my 200mm DA* (also for sale). Amazon screwed up the shipping and I ended up purchasing both a Vivitar and a Bower and returned the Vivitar later.

I tried them both on several lenses and while they did ok in extending the range, there are a couple of issues that I need to mention to anyone interested in purchasing this teleconverter:

1. The autofocus on these models does not work on every lens. It works on most lenses, but not on the 200 or 300mm. Manual focus works fine on those though. Metering works well.

2. Be careful when assembling and check for interference, I think there are 1 or 2 ultra wide angles where this might be an issue.

3. For use with long lenses such as the 200mm, it becomes really important to use a tripod and preferably mirror lock-up.

4. I would suggest that in order to get the most out of this Teleconverter, a little bit of experimentation with different lenses, F-stops, focal lengths is in order.

That being said - I'm selling this for half price, only having used it for one weekend in eastern Washington state. I don't shoot macro or really anything other than Landscapes, so maybe the TC is more useful to someone else :-)

Just wanted to show what it's selling for new.... I've only used mine for one weekend....
http://www.amazon.com/Element-Teleconverter-Pentax-Lifetime-Guarantee/dp/B003ORXRT2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380659280&sr=8-1&keywords=bower+2x+teleconverter+pentax

Also - wanted to re-iterate that the issues I'm listing here aren't specific to my teleconverter.... they're general problems that apply to just about all 2x converters. I think that for the selling price I'm listing, this is a worthwhile gadget - even if it's not perfect.
