Kiron 100mm f/2.8 1:1, Tarmon 17mm f/3.5, Sears Auto 135mm f/2.8, Helios 44M-4

1. Vivitar (Kiron) 100mm f/2.8 1:1 Macro ($300 + shipping) [SOLD]

2. Tarmon SP 17mm f/3.5 adaptall-2 (51BB) ($250 $225 + shipping) [Available] [Price Reduced]
  • Lens in good working condition with normal wear

  • blog post on K-7 and Tamron SP 17mm f/3.5 adaptall-2 (51BB)
  • adaptall-2.org lens link in Tamron 17mm f/3.5 (51B), same optical formular in 51BB
  • reason in selling -- lens reduction, will miss this prime for sure especially on film

3. Sears 135mm f/2.8 Auto m42 ($35 $29 + shipping) [SOLD]
  • Lens in good condition
  • glass is clean
  • comes with both caps
  • Lens has Manual/Auto (M/A) switch

The Tamron SP 17mm f/3.5 in adaptall-2 mount has two versions. What I have listed here is the 2nd version with (51BB) model. Both are optically similar or identical. This sale comes with the unusual rare find of the lens hood. This lens does't have screw on threads and no metal/plastic hood will work on this 17mm lens. The hood alone can cost $35, I saw it before on ebay as a rare find. And this lens comes with box, leather case for both the lens and the perfect matching hood.

I don't have good pictures of the two M42 lenses. Here are the snapshots at night in front of my monitor.

Both are in decent conditions. I got both from Grahame and as he mentioned in an earlier thread, they are indeed in good conditions. The only nick-pick that I will add is the Sears Auto focus ring is in the stiffer and heavier side if you compare the ring to Super-Takumar type. But both lenses work as expected.

Cheers,
Hin

Wow, that's a sweet Tamron SP. I just got a 24/2.5 SP lens and I absolutely love it. If I had not just purchased a Tokina 20-35 I probably would have snagged it!

I have the Tamron SP 24mm f/2.5 with the original lens hood that I plan to list it for sale as well. I need help to get things going.

This 17mm or the 24mm will work out great with a P/K-A adapter. With the coming pentax FF in 2014, it is time to load up on good primes and be ready for that FF. As for me, I am more likely to go with Sony A7/A7r for my upgrade to FF story and hence more listing from me with 14 lenses, 1 body, 1 battery grip and 1 flash. The 17mm in full frame is super wide, you can see the full frame view in this film picture with Ricoh xr-p

with older version 51B on FF with film

Cheers,
Hin

I can vouch for the Vivitar (Kiron) 100mm f/2.8 1:1 Macro, this is a superb macro lens. Great value and excellent performance. If I didn't already have one, I would snap this up in a second.

+1 on the macro lens

I originally thought of upgrading to Sigma EX 70mm f/2.8 1:1 Macro as I recall seeing great recommendation from others, especially jsherman999. I sell the lens to myself and gave up on the upgrade plan.

All other lenses are up for grabs, please PM me if you have a question.

Just FYI, I was not paying attention that my 44M-4 doesn't have the A/M switch and I have to do a modification to turn the 44M-4 into a manual aperture lens so that the Pentax digital can do stop down properly upon aperture change. Detail of the modification can be depicted in this French page

http://chris.stingray.free.fr/Tuto/M...he_H44M-4.html

The helios is easier to do but still quite awkward if you are are modifying it the first time. I did a similar surgery on a unusual zoom

http://www.techtheman.com/2010/03/ke...ro-in-m42.html

Be warned that 44M-4 needs modification if you plan to use it on digital.

Cheers,
Hin
Some information that I dig up on different versions of Helios

QuoteOriginally posted by boriscleto Quote
The 44-2 was M42 preset with single coating, 8 iris blades.

The 44-3 was M42 preset with multi coating, 8 iris blades.

The 44M was M42 auto/manual with single coating, 8 iris blades.

The 44M-4 was M42 auto with single or multi coating, 6 iris blades.

The 44M-5 and up are M42 auto with multi coating, 6 iris blades.

The 44K-4 is the KM version.
Helios is now sold with some drama in packaging. It was a good drama as I was not paying attention to the fact that the 44M-4 does not have the A/M switch. I then went ahead with the surgery to enclose the aperture pin with ink insert so as to engage the pin in the depressed position turning the lens into a manual aperture m42 lens. With the ink insert, the modification step is reversible.

Cheers,
Hin

A bump to meet potential new owner. The Tamron SP 17mm f/3.5 adaptall-2 (51BB) comes with original boxes and leather cases for both the lens and the rare one and only one matching lens hood. The lens front doesn't have the usual screw threads for a regular lens hood and the original lens hood is rare but a God sent when you have the lens alone.

Thanks,
Hin

Hinman is the best...

Just received the Helios 44M-4... It is in perfect condition, hard to believe this is a +25 year old lens. Hin even did a modification before he shipped it to allow the lens to stop down. Perfection.

Now I need to test it further against my 44-M and 44-2... they all have different 'personalities'.

Thanks again Hin.

Someone pick up that Tammy 17mm... it is a beaut.
