[SOLD] Pentax SMC-M 28/3.5 (EU)

Up for sale is my SMC-M 28/3.5, which is said to be slightly better than the f/2.8 version.

Condition: Not mint, not bad. It has a tiny cleaning mark on the front lens which does not
affect the image quality in any way. You would not notice it if you didn't know that it was
there.

Furthermore, there are two tiny holes in the front ring where it says "Pentax ... " in white
letters. Else than that, the lens is in good condition. The aperture ring runs like it should with
a "click" for each stop, the focus runs smooth and the aperture blades are snappy.

Asking 45 Euros. *** SOLD ***

Shipping: To EU countries, 8 Euros, rest of the world: 12 Euros (airmail). Registered mail is
3 Euros more. Payment: Direct bank transfer (preferred in Euro countries) or PayPal
(please add +4% commission).

Send me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks!

Still for sale - although slower than the 2.8 version, it takes great photos.

Too bad I have a nice M28 f/2.8, or else this would be a nice choice.

The above comment combined with a healthy bump for a very good lens on a DSLR. 42 mm equivalent is very close to the "perfect normal" (43 mm), and suits shooting people at parties very good.

Looks like the insides of this lens has been fiddled with. Still, that doesn't mean it can't perform well.

Well, I have it here as I type this. I got the lens from a local photo dealer and he said that it was probably serviced. In rare cases, he told me, photo repair workshops do this as a last resort if there is no other way of removing the front ring with friction tools such as a cork or a rubber plug. The two holes are tiny, about 0.6 or 0.8 mm in diameter, and exactly opposite - nothing you would do with a cordless screwdriver in your garden shed.

I was a sceptic first, but then he persuaded me by giving me a good price and a return period if I did not like it. So I bought, tested and kept it.

There are no loose parts inside or outside, no signs of frequent usage or abuse, nor other noticeable deficiencies. If it was serviced, then this was done by a professional. This lens just behaves like any other M or K lens I have. Smooth focus, snappy and oil-free aperture blades, perfect filter thread, etc. Optically, it is much better than the M28/2.8 and the A28/2.8 which I also own.

If there is demand, I might take and post some sample images.

So here are two images, taken at f/3.5 while preparing a hot air balloon for take-off:

This is an excellent lens, I have one as well. I'm surprised no one has snatched it up yet.
