how cold it is today in Northeastern Minnesota? a real test for your K-5's "coldproof" design?

It got up to minus 4, but is falling as the sun goes down. Used it on Sunday when it was colder and left it in the unheated barn for an hour or two. Still worked just fine.

Nice demonstration of the coldproof qualities of the mighty K-5! Stay bundled up out there!

No, it is not WR. You would need the DA 16-50 for that. This will give similar quality images, but at much less cost. The 16-50 has other awesome features, though.

Aside from the extra reach at the wide end and constant f/4, does anyone happen to know or have experience with what advantages this lens offers over the kit DA 18-135 WR lens? I appreciate any insight on this. Just wondering if there'd be any significant improvements or things that would help me grow as a novice. Thanks!

BabyTeaLeaf - Sharpness wide open. Constant aperture lenses tend to be (it isn't an exact science) much sharper wide open than their counterparts. The 18-135 is a great lens, but its qualities wide open are not on par with this inside of the 16-45's range. Hope that helps.

Thanks zbrueningsen, that's helpful to know.
