Vivitar 100mm F3.5 AF MC Macro Lens PK/A (USA/Canada)[Reduced]

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Vivitar 100mm F3.5 AF MC PK/A Macro Lens

Asking Price
89.99 85.00 $79.99 USD

Item Location
Michigan (United States)

Item Description
Vivitar 100mm F3.5 AF Macro Lens nicknamed, "The plastic fantastic" because of its excellent image quality reputation.

This lens is in good condition, see photos, and is priced low because it has a tiny internal dust whisker and some normal internal dust that does not affect image quality but is visible...see the photos. Plastic shows signs of moderate use. Fully working, good sharp lens can do 1:2 magnification (more if you add a 49mm diopter which are dirt-cheap). Sample photo below.

But, can this lens also be used as a general purpose, walk-around autofocus lens? Yes it can. For example, say you wanted to shoot a wind-driven flag through a glare-ridden window with heavy backlighting:

Is this the same as the Cosina 100mm macro?

Not sure about Cosina, but it was branded under Promaster and others. Some others here may know.

That's the one. The plastic fantastic. I'd buy this instantly if I could. Someone should pick this up! Its a very good lens. Its also the same optical formula as the Pentax FA-100mm f3.5.

This is a very nice lens - the exact same "variant" (brand) of the Cosina that I have. I don't usually see this one.

Does it come with the 1:1 adapter? Not that I use my adapter much - the lens has better IQ without it.

Yep. It's actually made by Cosina. I have the optically identical manual focus version under the Promaster brand, and it's terrific. You would want to pick up the 1:1 adapter for super-close macro work.

No, sorry I don't have the adapter for it. It's just a standard 49mm diopter and you could use any of the +1, +4, or +10's that are out there, depending your needs.

bump for a inexpensive but good lens, underrated, i had the Pentax and a Phoenix version before, both produced astounding images

You should edit your original post to reflect that.
