Item Description
Hello everyone!

Selling another copy of the venerable 285HV. These are still selling new for about $80+, but the newer ones are flimsier and less reliable than the tried and true Vivitar manufactured (not just branded) 285HV.

Fantastic for on and off camera flash work. Manual controls, and a few auto thyristor modes that work great. I used a few of these for product photography when I was in Flagstaff, but I sadly have not done any of that since moving. I don't ever use my backups, and just use them for on camera bounce usage now, so I don't need multiples.

Trying to acquire the Metz TTL module for my ETRSi, so this extra needs to go.

May be willing to trade for a K series body, towards the SCA386 module if you have one, or possibly for M42 glass.

Can this be used on a k30? Does it have to be fully manual. I want a flash but I'm so confused with which ones will work.

Yeah! It's the HV model, so the trigger voltage is safe. Full manual control down to 1/16 power, GN of about 120. The Thyristor modes work well, too.
EDIT: If you're new to flashes, the Thyristor modes are auto modes. You tell the flash what f stop you're using, and it will deliver the appropriate power with it's sensor to give correct exposure at the f stop.

It works great. It's like comparing external metering to TTL metering, both are very accurate and can work, but with external metering you have to know your lens characteristics a bit more.
