Item Description
This has long been my favorite lens and it has contributed some of my favorite photos on my K5ii. I picked up a SMC 50/1.4 as part of a trade and have chronicled my neurosis over which to keep here:

You'll see in that thread that I decided to sell the 50 and listed it, but it didn't sell and I still have it. I've decided to go the other way now. Honestly, there is almost no practical difference in these two lenses. The extra 2/3 stops of light don't really come into play much on the dSLR, but I do notice them more when shooting film, where I can't just run the ISO up. It's much easier to hit focus wide open on this 55 than it is on the 50, but when you nail both, they are equally good. The bokah wide open is equally good and thoroughly awesome. In the middle apertures, the 55 is more prone to produce some hexigons on digital, less so on film, for some reason.
The lens is in great condition. It is a little dusty, like any lens of this age would be and I've made no attempt to clean it up. The focus and aperture are wonderful. The money from this sale will go to having the 50 CLAed as it is not as clean, tight and smooth. This is a marvelous lens and you deserve a great fast 50 like this.
It comes with a standard PK rear cap (no idea if it's the original) and a Takumar front cap that was on it when I got it. Clearly not the original.
I'll ship on the business day that I receive PayPal. I can get a good rate and usually faster service shipping from work and will cover shipping in US. If you want it next day or live outside of the US, let's agree to some terms and have you cover some of the shipping costs. Otherwise PayPal fees and shipping cost is on me.
Some of my favorite photos with this lens that I've shared here.
The first was in a VERY dark bar.

Catch in Focus works exceptionally well with this lens, almost rendering it an AF lens:

and colors and dimension are wonderful. Great walk around lens, great for everything. I said I'd never sell it, but here it is:

As for trades, I might be tempted by something wide or something longer but as fast. It doesn't hurt to ask.
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see anything different. I clearly love this lens and was trying to be thorough.

I feel I priced this, just about right, with shipping included, but if you were interested in the fine Tokina AT-X Zoom, I'm also selling, I'll bundle them for $100 shipped in US, shared shipping cost negotiated outside.
