PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Sigma 100-300mm F4 EX APO DG telephoto lens - RARE!

Asking Price
1,100.00 USD

Item Location
Indianapolis, Indiana (United States)

Item Description
I have a Sigma 100-300mm F4 that I no longer need. I bought this lens last year, and have not had an occasion to use it. It is in very good condition and works great. The optics are absolutely pristine.

The lens comes with the hood, front/rear caps, and Sigma carrying case.

Sample Images

The following set of images was shot in my home studio on a tripod, and I believe they do a good job of showing off the image quality and resolution that this lens is famous for, even wide open at f4.

Ha ha...someone has already PM'd me to ask, so for those of you with good memories, I did sell one of these previously, but this is a different one.

A while back I bought a Sony version of the same lens and was going to use it with a Sony DSLR, with possible intentions of leaving Pentax and going all Sony, so I sold my original Pentax copy. But then I changed my mind and sold the Sony version and bought another Pentax version. So this is the second Pentax copy I've owned, and the third overall copy counting the Sony copy.

I recently bought another 100-300mm f4 in K-mount, and like the Sony copy I owned, it's the newer style that looks a little more modern (although it's the same optically), and it matches all my other Sigma lenses better, so I'm selling this one so that I have more of a matched set (very important, I know).

I've compared the two copies I have right now, and optically I can't tell a difference.

I had this lens in the Canon mount and it was one of the best things ever. I used it mostly at 300mm FL.

I just attached a few sample pictures from the lens.

Like I said in the ad, the lens hasn't left my house since I bought it, so I didn't have much of anything to show from it, but I took it to work with me yesterday to get at least a few shots out my car window. It's been cold and gray here lately, and that's how it was yesterday, so the lighting was kind of flat and these probably aren't the best samples I could have gotten. Oh well, better than nothing I suppose.

How much do you want for the screen-rights to that saga? But seriously, it is a great lens--so good that I sold my DA*300/4. That good.

Yeah, maybe I should have put together a flow-chart as a visual aid.

Speaking of how good this lens is, I just shot a set of sample images in my home studio this morning. This time I used a tripod and wasn't in such a hurry, and I think this images do a much better job of showing off how good this lens is, even at f4. You can click on each image for the full-size, uncropped, 16MP image. As you'll see, sharpness is excellent, even when viewed at 100%.

I just bought my GF the 150-500 for Xmas. After seeing this posting, she is now hinting I should sell it? She said something about "how awesome it would be if we had matching lenses...."

The lens has been sold, pending payment.

BTW, I just took the same set of nutcracker pictures with my other 100-300mm f4, and the pictures were virtually indistinguishable between the two lenses.
