Pentax SMC DA 15 f4 Ltd - Photos with lens ADDED

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Pentax SMC DA 15 f4 Limited

Asking Price
300.00 USD

Item Location
Phoenix (United States)

Item Description
This is the wonderful SMC DA 15 F4 Limited. It is in Very Good condition with one exception. A prior owner removed the screw drive so the lens will not autofocus. This is a very minor problem since, as a wide angle, it has a very deep field of view when stopped down. Many people set these kinds of lenses at f8 and don't bother to focus. I did usually focus it but that was always very easy. I hate to sell the lens but it is a focal length I use very little and LBA (lens buying addiction) has been strong lately so I need to replenish my Paypal account. What you see in the picture is what you get, no box, bag etc. Comes with front an rear caps only. Front cap is not original but I think it is superior to the original Pentax front cap. There are a couple of small scratches on the lip of the barrel - see last photo. I first noticed them when I was taking these pictures.

EDIT: I have added some quick photos i took this morning to show that the lens operates normally. They are SOOC except for the last one where I cut the highlights to show the starburst better.

Dropping in a new pin would be pretty easy too; I'm not sure if a $40 DAL 18-55 pin would match up but it's a thought..

Any idea why the screw was removed?

well looking at the picture of the lens mount it looks like the screw AF coupler is still there, so was it disengaged internally.
it is very enjoyable lens , I have a newish HD silver version, love it with K-s1.

It came this way but I think it may not have been autofocusing properly so the screw was removed to prevent damage if the camera tried to focus. Not sure. In any case the focus is smooth and fine by hand.

For those of you sitting on the fence about this lens, you might want to read this.

Mine is functional. The autofocus does not work but with a lens this wide it is easy to get sharp focus. The pictures in the listing were taken with manual focus, without any difficulty. I am only selling because I have added a FF to my bag and I need to fund that purchase. Actually this little beauty performs well even on FF cropped. I will not be unhappy if I end up keeping it. My wife will be though.

Let me guess, Engish or History Major? To be fair, I never use AF with my wide-angle lenses, specially with an ultra-wide angle lens.
