Boy kudos on those photos....some of the sharpest, best lit I've seen.
Wish I could help with the 28-70, but alas, my finances will keep me with my trusty Tamron instead.
Best wishes.

Thank you, The FA* 28-70 is pretty special, it's got that certain quality to it.

I have had the Tamron 007 as well until I acquired the 2870. In pure sharpness, I'd say the Tammy is ahead in the telephoto end - by about 0.5 to 1 stops, While the Pentax is sharper at the wide end by almost 2 stops. So let's say they are equal in this field.

But when it comes to micro contrast and colour rendering the 2870 wins hands down. I find (to my eyes) the Tammy has a slight yellow cast. While the FA* renders colour with a certain pop that just makes it one of those rare lens where things just look right.

Alas, it looks like it's destined to be the last one to leave me I'm not complaining here. I actually preferred to the FA* to the 77mm on a digital SLR due tot he purple fringe issue on the 77.

I have to say though I now find a pair of worthwhile successors in the form of Olympus M.Zuiko 12-40mm and 75mm.

Still, when one considers the FA* was a 25 year old design that makes it extra special it can still go up against the latest.

In our lives we'd doubt less own many lenses, the FA* will forever be one I'd remember. It's heavy, loud as a robot, difficult to toss around and not quite suited for my shooting style but damn it could render well.
