a much underappreciated feature is this lens close focusing ability. (300 cm) This does not increase as you stack on Tele-extenders. This means that you will never have to back up to get some critter in focus..... I owned one of these
for several years and did not fully appreciate the usefulness of the close focus ability until I got another lens that didn't focus so closely. It cries out for an extender (or 2) with it's speed and needs some support. It's just a legendary piece of glass.
I only let mine go because I acquired some other legends.
