This lens has focus issue. It does not focus on anything far that about 20 feet. Still it's a great lens for portraits and close ups, focuses well on close distance. Glass is spotless.

I priced this lens with the "room" for repair cost.

this happened when I bought a da21 off someone here. Is the barrel separating from the body?

I'm not sure I can understand what separation means. When I rotate focusing ring, the barrel moves back and forward as should.
When I try to focus on distant object, with AF or MF, it feels like the focus ring just "stuck" to focus far.

The focus ring loosened and the rotational locks have shifted so your focusing element won't reach infinity. If it was a DA21 I would know how to fix it - but no experiences with the DA70.

PM Brian (DCShooter) on this forum. He is a wizard at CLA and he can tell you: 1) If he can service it, and 2) how much. He is typically very inexpensive for the services offered! (Don't tell him I said so or he may raise his prices.)

Honestly, I don't want to deal with repairs at all. That's why I already bought another copy because I like to use that lens for occasional landscapes as well. I also priced this copy for the chance either to get it low and fix yourself, or to send to someone.

I'm the same way, usually. Anyhow -- the info is here for others that may consider purchasing and having it serviced.

I can't say that focus ring is loosened, may be at one slight spot feels loose while rotating, or it's my imagination after I read your post

You might considering sending to Eric....he worked on my DA 70 that had oil on the blades...got it back in 5 or 6 days, and it's absolutely perfect. It was insanely inexpensive!!

Just a thought in case you want to have it serviced quickly and at a fair price.
