[SOLD] Vivitar Series 1 105mm 2.5 Thing of Beauty

So the story goes that I've been looking for this lens for AGES. And Finally I meet this guy in my city that has 2 of them and sells me it for 400$. Almost NEW looking and with the leather case. Pure joy ensues, rainbows come from the clouds and world peace is close at hand.

Then the beginning of this week I find out a site I help manage and promote had its press credentials approved for Berlin Fashion Week. And all I needed to do (got photographer access to everywhere!!!!) is pay for the small amount of 1200-1400$ for a plane ticket there in July + buy a few more essential tools. If it wasn't the chance of a lifetime I would not be going.

So here I present to you.. my Vivitar Series 1

400 + s/h. It's what I paid for and its what i'll take for it. I have a lot of good feedback here so you can trust me on it.

Please don't send me offers well below my asking. I can already tell you NO as I know what I can get on ebay. Don't want to be rude but those are the circumstances.

This is an A Lens.

Trust me at that time you could not pry this lens from my dead body.

And if you look at the pics taken with your 90 and compare them to the 105 I think they match up very favorably.

No wonder all the sad faces.Having to part with this must be a very difficult decision for you.
I recently purchased this lens, and have to say its a class above.
A brilliant little unit, breathtaking macro capability.

Isn't this the same lens as the Kiron/Lester A Dine 105mm? I thought so, and it seems to be according to this thread? It certainly looks identical to my Dine (and the Kiron I had briefly before it - long story.) Although the Kiron had a build-in lens hood and the Dine didn't, but it's hard to notice that in pictures of the lens. Both the Kiron and the Dine were also A lenses.

I'm just wondering why there's such a price premium on the Vivitar version?

Whatever the name is, though, it is a fantastic lens - it's one of the absolute sharpest lenses I can put on my K20D, and can comfortably compete with (or maybe even beat) the 31mm Limited for detail.

it's only within the past 2-3 months that price for the vs1/kiron/dine macros went up. i think this board had a lot to do with it.

In that case, I guess I'm glad that I got mine when I did. What a great lens!

I guess I'm just confused on the "looking for this lens for ages" - seems like a good number of them have come up for sale in the past here, though more have been Kiron/Dines than Vivitars.

I think they're all pricey now.
I think I remember a Dine selling here for 300+ recently. Or am I wrong?

Also, for the love of God, someone buy this, before I blow all my vacation money.
