Item Description
The LBA is strong in me and it is now time to sell-off some of my cherished gems (wifey says 50 lenses is too much). I disagree, but as the saying goes -- if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
So up for sale is a fast Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f/2.8-4 Macro-focusing zoom lens. This is a classic/cult zoom lens from a time when Series 1 meant something special. This is the coveted version 3 "Komine" lens which was a bit lighter and smaller than the versions 1 and 2, but retained the excellent optical and rendering qualities. This one is the rare PK-A version meaning that it has the settings and contacts to provide aperture information allowing it to be used as a manual focus automatic lens. The lens also has a very nice close-up capability (they call it Macro) adding even more versatility. Upon close inspection, I see very minimal dust, no fungus, separation, or coating issues, etc. The aperture clicks distinctly and smoothly and the focus and zoom action is perfect with just the correct amount of resistance -- not sloppy or tight. There is a little bit of zoom creep when fully inverted, but that it to be expected of a lens this heavy with large splendid glass. It really is in EXCELLENT condition and would definitely qualify for MINT if I had the box, case, and paperwork. Original front lens cap, and rear cap (can't recall if it is original) are included. Will also provide a generic leatherette hard lens case (not pictured).
Note: There were 5 versions of the Vivitar Series 1 70-210. Versions 1,2, and 3 are very desirable and considered excellent lenses (Versions 2 and 3 are considered more highly than version 1). Only the very late productions of the version 3 introduced PK-A / auto-aperture so this is a very hard to find and coveted lens. And what about the versions 4 and 5 you ask? Well, let's just say that they tarnished the Series 1 brand.

I just do not shoot long FL zoom lenses and have decided that I only need one. With my eyes, it had to be a AF model so my Sigma DG APO 70-300 won out, although this Series 1 is much sharper. I am VERY hesitant to sell this lens as it is one of my prize "collector" lenses and I may end-up having a change of heart and retracting the sale. Strike before my seller's remorse sets in!!
It will be packed carefully and shipped quickly. CONUS only, please.
