Free bump for the excellent 18-250. If you expect mediocre performance for the combination of big zoom and low price, you will be very pleasantly surprised.

The Pentax 55-300 has been sold. The Tamron 18-250 is still available. It's a great walkaround / all-purpose lens. I've updated the original post accordingly.
