Sorry, could not figure out how to send the photos, even through the private contact function, see, I was not lying when I said I was new to this forum. I'm a MAC user and used to just dragging and dropping. I will be able to put more time into it tomorrow and will try to get those images to those who are interested. Thanks for your patience. I am out the rest of the day.
Make sure the image sizes are small. 500kb is the max jpeg size, for example.

The OP couldn't post the images for the lenses and sent me some. Here they are.
I'm interested in the 1000mm but will have to back off on it this time. Good luck to all.

I have sent photos, such as they are, to all that have asked, and Peter was kind enough to post them to the thread also. If there are any other questions or photos needed please contact me via this forum or by pm. Thanks all for you interest, although there are no firm offers on the table EXCEPT from "usedcamerbuyer.com". has anyone had any experience with them. Nice that they made an offer, but it was low ($650usd) for both, and they want the lenses sent to them and after inspection they will cut a check, maybe. That's kind of a red flag to me, but then again maybe that is how it is done. Any observations would be appreciated. Thank you

That sounds like a terrible deal/idea... I would say that is a major red flag. You should receive payment before shipping, or at least a partial payment. Alos, if the A* 300mm f4 is still available, I would be very interested.

A Pentax 1000mm f8 went for $710 on ebay last night but it wasn't a reflex. Amazon was selling these in 1973! Amazon.com: Pentax SMCP Reflex 1000mm f/11 Lens with Case: Camera & Photo
Wow. I didn't even know Amazon was around back then. Is yours a screw mount? B&H was selling it for $3,099. What makes it better than the 1000mm F8?

Umm, NO. dot-com wasn't around in 1973, much less Amazon. I think that date represents the year those were available from Pentax - the release date.

That's very interesting, the Amazon link. Thanks for posting it. And the fact that BH was selling it for $3,000!
No, it's a K mount, and the most obvious difference you'll notice with a reflex lens vs conventional lens is the size, reflex is much smaller, see photos in previous post. But there are some disadvantages also, fixed f/11 f-stop, it's pretty heavy, and the whole circles of confusion focusing thing, although if used correctly and controlled it can be quite cool.

The Pentax 1000/8 is a very good lens, especially on film where it certainly will outperform a sensor on a DSLR. The lens does have a PF problem to some degree on the sensor. Still a nice lens though.

The Pentax 1000/11 is lighter, smaller, one stop slower, easier to carry into the field, has excellent control of CA's, is quite sharp and I have not seen PF on the sensor at all.

Both lenses benefit from a solid platform and would benefit from a tripod gimbal combination. That said, the 1000/11 is compact enough to use on a good monopod. I have used it that way in good lighting.

In certain situations the 11 will produce the zones of confusion circles that some people don't care for. To me they are not a problem and they certainly are not present in most of my photos using the lens.

The 1000/11 is a K mount and originally sold at B&H for $4000 plus recently.

Hope this helps.

Stephen

Sorry, meant usedcamerabuyer.com anyone have any dealings with them? Although with their low bid and the fact that a couple people here are looking very hard at the 300 for $400usd, I do not think usedcamerabuyer.com is going to be a player in this, unless they up the bid. Just wondering if anyone has past experience with them.

300 f/4 is sold / 1000 f/11 still available

I have accepted a $400usd offer for the 300f/4. Thanks all for your interest and comments. If the deal somehow falls through I will let you know. The 1000mm f/11 reflex is still available for $1000usd, plus postage. A very interesting previous post regarding this lens in relationship to the 1000 f/8, and how much BH and Amazon were selling it for. Granted, that is for a new lens, and this is a very specialized piece of glass, you would certainly have to be into ultra-long distance shooting. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the 1000mm, and thanks again for the feedback. It's been interesting.
