Item Description
Extremely Rare, SMC Pentax-FA 20mm F2.8 lens in Mint / Like-New condition (collector's quality??).

Extremely Rare because I have not seen one of these for sale on Ebay for the months that I've been watching. Currently there is not a single copy of this lens for sale on Ebay.

Like new condition because it's just back from being CLAed by Eric Hendrickson, so it's focusing if perfect and it has no dust/fungus/haze/oil etc!! At the very bottom of the below photos is a PDF file that is a scan of the receipt I received from Eric on the CLA work he did for me on this lens

The SMC Pentax-FA 20mm F2.8 lens is expected to be one of the best Pentax wide angle's on the upcoming full frame lens. Comes with front and rear caps.

I am interested in trading this rare and pristine lens for your SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited. If your 31mm lens is in excellent or above condition, I will give you $200 in addition to my 20mm lens.

O.K., I've heard from some of you. Sure, you really like this lens, but you're just not willing to part with your beloved 31mm Limited. I understand.

So, if you want to keep your 31mm lens and still are interested in this one, I'll sell this lens outright to the first $600 offer (keep in mind that the CLA job with shipping cost me $75 - so you're really getting this lens for only $525!).

I will pay the shipping. Let's do a personal check so neither of us needs to pay the PayPal fees.

This way I can buy a good used 31 Limited with the $600 and maybe a few more bucks.

How's that sound?

Hi Dave. Good luck with the sale. I have an FA20/2.8 and an FA31/1.8 Limited, and I wouldn't like to lose either of them, because I like them both for different reasons.

However, on the subject of the FA20/2.8 I suspect the reason why you don't see them very often is that they're not that common to start with (probably because of their price when new, considering they weren't an FA* or Limited lens) and that their performance is considered to be very good for a non Limited or FA* lens. They even seem to be valued more than the FA*24/2, if current Marketplace pricing is anything to go by.

Nonetheless, if I had to choose between them, the build of the FA31/1.8 Limited makes it a thing of beauty, as well as an optical paragon, and I can understand your letting the FA20 go in its favour.

I don't think anyone who buys an FA20 would be disappointed in its performance, though, so as I said, good luck with selling yours.
