Insanely RARE Pentax FA* 250-600mm F/5.6 Lens IF & ED ***MINT*** The last mention of a MINT copy that I can find sold on eBay for $7,650 a few years ago and a horribly ugly copy sold for somewhere under $5,000. I have a feeling that the prices will only go up when FX comes out. Unfortunately, I need cash now so this beauty is up for grabs! Please don't be afraid to make me an offer if you have cash and are close enough to meet up in person or are willing to fly in to British Columbia or Bellingham WA.


I got her from the original owner who supposedly only took her on two outings and then used her at home the rest of the time. She really is a 9.999/10 as the only two things that keep her from being 100% flawless are two snaps that are missing that hold the strap on the leather lens cover and if you look in exactly the right light you can see a few extremely light rub marks on the bottom of the barrel between the zoom ring and the mount that look like they could have been from a ring that the user was wearing. They are so light that most people would never see them as you really have to angle the lens just right in the light to even be able to see them. I only even mention them just to be 100% accurate and because I am extremely picky. Even the metal carrying case looks brand new.


I would much prefer someone that could pick her up in person in British Columbia or Northern WA, take some photos and see in person that all aspects of this lens are 100%. Otherwise, I will meticulously pack and ship her fully insured to a buyer in the Continental US or Canada. If no buyers pop up from those two locations, I may consider shipping to other countries. If I have to put her up on eBay, I will have to raise the price 10% to cover their 10% in seller fees.

this lens commands improved technique - she can be kind but cruel if not handled with care.

the learning curve is steep I have to admit. tonight the moon dragged me out for another go after being disappointed with what the lens did the other day. technique is the key - with persistence it will reward

hehe thats my baby now... but true it was not in the best shape.... and this lens is worth more if mint!! heavy but outstanding lens. i can only recommend the lens. Get it if you can!!!

FYI, More sample images from flickr taken with the same lens (not that one, but many are from my copy in the search query though... no microfocus adjustment required in my case)

I've always used the term "Unicorn", as in I'll never see one in my lifetime.

Best of luck with the sale though. I wish I had the money.
