That saves me some money! Thank you very much for your experienced input Pepe!

Pepe,I will take your trade. I just purchased an F*300 4.5 from another Pentaxian and don't have any shots taken with it that I can send you, but it shoots test charts as good as my 60-250 and front/bank focus came in with a -5 adjustment on my K5IIs. It has the original tripod mount, very beefy and sturdy but easily removable and a small ding in the lens hood. Front and rear caps are generic. Glass is clear, action is good. I can send you a few pics if you send me email address. I am not a birder and I don't do sports photography. I just wanted a little more reach than my 250 for the occasional nature shoot so the additional size and weight does not concern me. I usually shoot from a tripod. Does your have the tripod mount?

Regards,
Martin
Not my thread, not my trade. Just trying to help.

Are you saying no one has taken your trade and it is still open? Please email me at mshook@racercpa.com. I don't have your email so I can't send you a pm. I really don't like going through the Pentax forums to carry on a discussion. I don't understand how this thing works.

Regards,
Martin

Yes, it is.

See here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/54-pentax-lens-articles/31629-da-lenses-f...ts-thread.html

Or here: Full Frame by PENTAX | RICOH IMAGING (the 12/24/15 posting where some of the example images are taken with the Da 300)

I can just agree on Pepe's statements. I had both, tried the AFA1.7x on the F*300, and I wasn't happy...
The HDTC with the F*300 was better IMHO, but not as good as the DA300... the F*300 was more prone to CA

the only combo lense+TC that was acceptable was the DA300+HDTC1.4x, and this is the kit I kept...

Some posts I made about that:

Item for Sale
My Da*300/4 for your F*300/4.5

Asking Price
0.00 USD

Item Location
Colorado (United States)

Item Description
I'm looking to try an F 300/4.5 and want to see if anyone is interested in a trade for my Da 300/4 (in Like New condition with fast/accurate AF and no issues whatsoever).

From what I've seen, these are a wash IQ-wise. Pros for each lens as I see it are:

Da - WR, a touch faster, silent AF, behaves better with HD-Da 1.4x TC (according to some)
F - smaller/lighter

Note that both are FF compatible.

I value size above all after IQ, hence my desire for the F. Hoping someone who has the F values the features of the Da more highly.

Please PM if interested.

I have an older FA*300f4.5 I have had it for about 10yrs, and it is my main lens. I bought it used, and works perfectly. Its only problem is some wearing of the ears of the hood. It won't fall off, but it is noticeably loose. It went to Pentax some years ago, and was cleaned. I'd like to discuss it.jemuth2.2comcast.net
