An amazing lens - I cannot believe it has not been snapped up yet, especially at the new lower price.

Am I right this lens has been discontinued by Sigma in Pentax mount? 300mm f2.8 is asking for 1.4x or even 2x TC (while in case of DA300 2x TC is already tricky).

I am not sure. BH sells it for $3400:

In Adorama it seems to be special order.

I have used it with the 1.4x and works nicely. The 2x is good provided you have enough light.

A few pictures from today. All of the handheld with my K-3.
The ones of the cat are at f4 and f2.8 respectively. the last picture (5) is a 100% crop
the original files look even better than these low quality uploads

sergysergy - I was going to pm you about this lens, but thought I'd better verify what I have in my collection and see if I 'need' this lens (um.. 'want' better word I guess). Seems I'd better pass on this fine lens. If I didn't already have 4 versions of Pentax mount 300 mm (including 2 different brands of f2.8), I would seriously consider it. But I guess I really don't need (or can justify) 5 - 300mm lenses? Or even more than one, to be truthful. That is, unless someone can convince me otherwise

Silly me, guess I need to start using the ones I have & see if I should start slimming my collection down.
