Since someone else already asked about you taking on different projects... ever thought about taking an FA* 24 f2 and doing a recolor to black along with a cleaning and general checkup? It's not so simple, with the AF clutch and AF mechanism itself, vs an M or K prime...

I actually have someone about to send in one of the silver-painted FA Power Zooms right now, although it will be going to silver anodized instead of painted. I've done several FA and DA lenses already with no problems, so the AF/clutch isn't an issue. I charge somewhat more for the added complexity, though.

The more challenging part of it actually might be the coloring, since there's no documentation on what aluminum alloys are used for the various parts of the lens, and the black dye is particularly sensitive to such differences, so it can be difficult to get a consistent tone and involves a lot of trial and error.

That seems highly unlikely...see the book of Exodus chapter 35 verse 30 to chapter 36 verse 3. It provides a very good description of the view of craftsmen

I've had a few K's done by Brian, and I must say the joy in using them is heightened significantly.
