3. FA* 300/4.5. $600. This lens was bought from a member here a few years ago. Clean glass for an used lens at this age, no fungus or scratches, just a few very small dust inside, normal for a used lens. Lens sees a lot of usage and has some marks and paint damage on the barrel.

I DIYed a tripod collar for it and it works very well. Soft-cloth inside the collar so it will not cause further paint damage on the barrel and it stays very steady. A screw-on short metal hood is for protection more than a light shade. SMC coating and long FL make light shade not necessary. And a matching metal front cap stays on the hood.

3. FA 300

1. FA* 24/2: $400. Bought from ebay a few years ago, but I guess it was from a forum member here. Clean glass, no scratches or fungus. A few very small dust inside as usual if you inspect using a flashlight. AF works great, aperture works great. Some paint loss on the barrel and hood, a common issue for FA* pain finish. There is a small dent on the focus ring, which does not affect the manual/auto focusing or focus model switching, pure cosmetic.


2. FA* 200/2.8. $650. This lens is really in excellent condition. Very clean glass, not even obvious dust inside. No fungus or scratches. Everything works great. Only a few small and light marks on the hood and barrel. I don’t think you can easily find a same lens in better condition. – it is actually the reason I am selling the FA*s: I don’t want to bring this lens out to the field, worrying about leaving marks on the painting. The lens ended up staying at home. I bought DA 200 and 300 and they go with me instead. Not because of IQ difference (FA and DA 200s perform very similar, same optical design), just because this FA* 200 is too beautiful to mass up.

That FA* 200/2.8 is in unusually fine condition -- I was lucky enough less than a year ago to find one for myself just as fine, but I know from searching back then for one as sweet as grahame's that they are quite uncommon like that -- someone ought to grab it quick.

I have some fairly recent samples (including three 100% crops) taken with mine on a K-3 at The FA* 200/2.8 goes to the beach .

That FA* 300/4.5 should really appeal to someone. I have the optically identical F* 300/4.5, and, as most of us know, the F*/FA* 300/4.5 optical design is absolutely sublime. One advantage that the F* has is a tripod mount, but grahame has nicely gotten around that shortcoming with his lens. [I do have to say, though, the the clever F* hood design is unbeatable.] Someone ought to pick up his FA* 300/4.5 and start enjoying those razor-sharp optics. 'Nuf sed...

Bump for the outstanding FA* 300 f/4.5. It is a lens capable of gorgeous image quality. I love my copy. It's not motorized or weather sealed but it is sprinkled with Pixie dust.
