Side-by-side with its 'younger sibling' (the SP AF 70-200/2.8) you'd be hard pressed to choose images between these two lenses in practical field use. PLUS, you'll never have to complain about slow AF!

My copy matches the IQ of the SP 180/2.5 macro (63B) at the top end.

Ehh, since when did 63B become a macro lens?

Seriously folks, the SP 80-200/2.8 (30A) is a premium quality zoom lens whose optics are second to none even when compared to oem lens manufacturer's offerings. I have a copy of this lens along with Sigma 70-200/2.8 EX DG APO Macro HSM II and a Tokina AT-X 828AF PRO 80-200mm F2.8 - yes I know, LBA is very severe in me. I know I have to part company with one of the AF lens but I don't think I will ever part with the 30A.

An excellent lens - my copy is in very much work-a-day condition, but easy to focus and will help build strong arm muscles!

The new owner of this one will enjoy - plus with the PKA included it will be easy if you're new to Adaptalls. Any issues with seeing the full aperture range on the included PKA? Mine would only open to F4 at first and needed a bit of cleaning.

Thanks for all the free bumps and comments. The lens is superb, if only it is a bit less heavy, I'll never sell it.
And, Zzlatel, yes, I got 2.8 with my PKA in the pics EXIF. When I couple them with my AF 1.7 adapter, it shows 3.5.
