For the 50mm 4.0 macro does that work with a Pentax k mount? I'm still new to all this haha

It needs a M42 to K mount adapter. The Pentax genuine adapter is recommended but that is likely cost more as in $40. This one I find in Amazon is inexpensive

https://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adapter-Pentax-Camera-K-5IIs/dp/B001G4LOCC?i...=1&*entries*=0

but you need to research more to know about M42 lenses as the adapter can be a challenge to use for first time. Once you get a hand of it, the M42 lenses are FF ready and a bargain to own as they can be used without the green button required by manual K-mount lenses. I use m42 lenses in A mode and use Ev compensation when needed.

PM to member. The SMC Macro Takumar 50mm f/4.0 is a very nice macro lens that does good closeup for flowers and product shots.

Super-Takumar 35mm f/3.5 was sold early Friday morning, the 2nd item on the list.

All of the sales are of excellent SMC and Super Takumar lenses. My most liked lenses in this listing is the SMC Takumar macro 50mm f/4.0.
I recently reached deep to decide to keep my Pentax DA 35mm f/2.8 macro to stay and this Takumar Beauty has to go.

The takumar lenses on this sale are tiny lenses with 49mm filter thread. A joy to use especially a beauty in dampened manual focusing.
If you have never tried takumar but use other manual focus lenses, you will be awed in owning a Takumar lens.

Cheers,
Hin

Have breakfast with SMC Takumar 28mm f/3.5 along with Sony A7. The square hood is the gem in the sale. Very cool with the tightening mechanics with a ring on the hood.

The following product shots has a M42 to E mount adapter for Sony A7 use. They look gorgeous together. Usually what suck in the Sony system is the adapter that adds bulk. It still sucks with M42, but not as much as a K-mount as the Takumar is smaller in comparison.

Bought the 35mm and it is outstanding! The lens looks brand new even though it is decades old! I appreciate the fast shipping, great price, well care for lens, and communication!

David

Sold my Super-Tak 35mm f/3.5 through TalkEMount forum, the Sony E mount forum.

I tried out more test shots on the SMC Macro Takumar 50mm f/4.0 and I do find flare on the lens but the problem is easily compensated with a lens hood and I will add in a 49mm round metal lens hood for the Macro. Hood is not pictured and it will be a nice add-on for the wonderful macro lens.

The color and bokeh in this simple macro is outstanding. I only sell this gem because I am keeping a pair of DA 35mm limited and DF-A 100mm WR macro. More test shots to come when time allows, please PM me if you have questions.

Cheers,
Hin

Both SMC Takumar 28mm f/3.5 and 35mm f/3.5 are sold. We shall meet again some day when I manage to live a better LBA life.

The SMC Macro Takumar 50mm Macro f/4.0 is still available and it does beautiful pictures. My casual home depot and backyard pictures can't do its justice.

Cheers,
Hin

I want to write you about two 3rd party adapters that I have used and recommended. For frequent and dependable usage, the genuine pentax adapter is recommended, cost is high as in the range of $25 to $70.

The lens article is in PF forum menu

Pentax Articles -> Pentax Lens Articles

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/54-pentax-lens-articles/110657-how-use-me...k-x-k-7-a.html

where it suggests the brand with Kipon. And I generally like Kipon brand. I bought it and I am a bit disappointed, but I forget the detail in what I don't like about it. Likely on difficulty to use and adapter prone to scratch lenses especially in dis-mounting

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/97561-REG/General_Brand_ABPKS_Pentax_K...Universal.html

#1.
https://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adapter-Pentax-Camera-K-5IIs/dp/B001G4LOCC/r...ntax+k+adapter

I have not used this particular one, but this is the typical 3rd party adapter built very similar to the genuine adapter by Pentax. It comes with a key that helps in dis-mounting. If you use the adapter a couple of times, the key is not needed once you learn to use fingertip to working with the locking pins.

#2
https://www.amazon.com/Concept-Adapter-Thread-Pentax-Camera/dp/B01172WEN0/re...ntax+k+adapter

I bought something similar to this one and this is the easy type of adapter that is the easy to mount or dis-mount but there is a catch, you can't find focus on infinity because the flange added thickness to the mount. I think for the macro lens, this is okay to miss infinity focus and I will suggest finding an adapter like this #2 if Macro is what you care about

#3 cheap ebay like #2 above

http://www.ebay.com/itm/M42-Screw-Lens-to-Pentax-PK-mount-adapter-K-M-K-X-K-...YAAOxyrxZR1T89

I bought something like this item in black, it will not have the infinity focus issue but the benefit of this one is ease of use in mounting and dis-mounting. The genuine one or #1 are harder for beginners.

Thank you.
Hin

Thanks! I have my adapters pictured, may as well share my experience here:

  • top left: genuine pentax m42 to K adapter -- recommended.
  • top right: Kipon that is built like the genuine adapter. And the Kipon has an extra flange at bottom that work with Auto-type of M42 lens. the extra flange pushes the auto pin up.
  • bottom: forget the brand but this one is the easy for mount and dis-mount as it has no locking pin. The catch is loss of infinity focus.

locking pin

locking pin

Recommendation: The genuine adapter has the least issues, long lasting, and work without the need of a key. But this one needs some time to get used to its operation.

The Kipon has a good build but I dislike it in actual usage, the extra flange on bottom does not depress some of the auto-pin type of m42 mount such as the Helios 44; otherwise, a reasonable choice.

The 3rd one without locking pin is easy to use but it flaws in not getting infinity focus due to extra distance from sensor added by the flange thickness.

Cheers,
HIn
