Pentax Magnifier FB 2X

Looks like I missed out on the Pentax Magnifier FB 2X listed, so I wanted to see if there are any PF members that have had laser vision correction and no longer require a whopping 2x magnifier. If so, let me know if you have one you'd consider selling to help a visually challenged PF member out!! For use on my K3 DSLR.

Thanks!!

Sadly, LASIK surgery actually tends to leave you with worse closeup vision, so those who have had it will be more likely to need the magnifier to view than not! The surgery reshapes the cornea but does nothing to correct decreasing elasticity of the eye, so you end up sacrificing a bit of closeup vision for improved long distance vision.

It's also why reading glasses are usually recommended for patients who have had LASIK.

Drats!! OK -- so I'll then appeal to those that whose sight now requires a 3x magnifier and have no use for their 2x Pentax magnifier. (I suspect by the time I get one, I too will be needing a 3x).

BTW -- I'm open to any good flip-up fixed or variable magnifier that can go up to 2x. I'm just leery of the many "off-brand" units out there and would trust Pentax or a recommendation from a valued PF member. (Or maybe it's just time to ditch the glasses for contacts.)

Thanks!!

dcshooter is right about the close focusing after lasik. I had mine done two years ago and still need 2.5 readers to see up close. Having said that, I use the Pentax O-ME53 on my K-50 now.

Thanks!! I have the O-ME53 on my K-3 and K500 and it is quite a help. I was looking for something a bit more powerful for critical focusing -- especially for close-up and Macro shots. Hoping a 2x magnifier might be of benefit.

Ok, but I remember a member had a 3x for sale. I looked through five pages in the Marketplace and found this ad, though it's not the one I was looking for, here you go:

Thanks!! I've PM'ed to ask if it is available and to see he can provide more info.

I've done a little more research and I don't think I need a diopter. The K3 and K500 OVF diopter adjusts fine and it's all crisply in focus, I just need things BIGGER. I was incorrect when I stated I needed a diopter -- I need a 2x magnifier!!

I was thinking you could use live view and magnify the image before taking the shot. Don't know how that works on the K-3 or the K-500 because I have a K-50 but that works for a lot of people, so I've read on here. Or use Catch-in-Focus, perhaps.

Hmmmm... Live View!! I'm not real fan of using an LCD (just feels unnatural), but certainly worth a try until I snag a 2x magnifier.

Thanks!!!

I'm not either and seldom use it. But sometimes it helps to see the shot magnified before taking the shot. I had to do that before my eye surgery. And you're welcome!

Hope you find that 2x magnifier soon.
