Pentax DA *200

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Pentax DA *200

Asking Price
725.00 USD

Item Location
Indiana (United States)

Item Description
This is a DA *200 that I have owned for several years. It is a very nice lens, both on my K-1 and K3 (it is a full frame lens). However, I now own a DFA *70-200 and I probably don't need both lenses. The glass is clean, the SDM works without any delay, and it is quite a bit smaller than the DFA *70-200, for what it is worth.

The lens does come with the original pouch and box.

Don't hesitate to PM me with offers or questions.

Thanks for looking.

Great for folks like me who are getting on and weight is a problem... it's a half pound lighter the my 60-250, and I'm guessing quite a bit lighter than a 70-200.

I see you're "thinning" the herd

This is one of my favorite lenses. Very lightweight, sharp and contrasty. And great at F2.8 if you're shooting indoor events. A "Must" have lens in any Pentaxiens arsenal.

If anyone is interested in the size comparison between the DA *200 and the DFA *70-200, here it is...

Man that zoom is Gargantuan compared to the DA*200 and more than twice as heavy! So how's the IQ compare at 200mm between the two?

Well, the obvious thing is that the 70-200 covers more focal lengths. The 70-200 has better border sharpness on full frame wide open, is a faster focusing lens, and has less purple fringing. By f4, I would have a hard time telling them apart.

My wife shoots weddings and she felt that the difference in auto focus was significant enough that she is willing to deal with the size difference and there's no reason to have both. As a pure walk around lens, size-wise, I would much prefer the DA *200.

Because of the size & weight of the DFA*70-200, I've gone back to using my DA*200 a more now. As good as the DFA*70-200 is, the DA*200 isn't that far off, though the focus is slower, the weight & size has pushed it to the top for me - glad I kept it.

I'll bet she found the zoom much more useful for weddings than a fixed 200mm. I am so close to wanting this lens but all the talk about focusing problems is making me afraid I might be disappointed. My only real experience with modern autofocus lens is my FDA 28-105 on my K1. How would you say the auto focus of your DA200 compares to a lens like that?

I find the DA *200 to be decent at auto focus. I don't know how to say it otherwise. It is faster than my DA *50-135 and DA *55 and slower than the DFA *70-200. I've never had issues using it in the real world, though.

Sale pending.
