A 85mm f1.4

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
A 85mm f1.4

Asking Price
1,100.00 USD

Item Location
Richland, WA (United States)

Item Description
For sale is a near-mint A 85mm f1.4 lens. This is a beautiful copy of a fantastic piece of glass. Optically no blemishes, fungus, truthfully I can't find any dust in it either. If there is any it doesn't affect image quality. The spots you see in the 2nd image are light reflections and I included this shot to show the aperture blades are clean. Focus and aperture rings work as they should. "A" setting works for aperture priority shooting with aperture controlled by camera. Included is both caps, the metal screw-in hood, and pouches for lens and hood.

Such a fine fine lens. Sharp and irrationally well built.

Had to debate long and hard about selling this or the 77 limited. It's really that good.

FA77's are a dime-a-dozen. This lens, on the other-hand - not so much. ;-)

Best Pentax lens I've ever owned (somewhere over 50 of them over the years). Impeccable solid build, but the image quality is absolutely astounding.

Fading eyesight accuracy and a lack of interest in using manual focus in general due to this led me to sell mine A* 85 in pristine condition. I bought the FA 77 to replace it and I have been very happy with the compromises that this brought - but that said, the quote below... rings true.

I know that from a pure handling it and just admiring it perspective it is nearly without parallel. It is a jewel to behold. My shots with it were quite good (by my standards) and I loved it. It can be a bit sharper than expected for a portrait lens. It is not nearly as soft as the FA* 85 from what I have observed in shots made with both wide open. It is extremely sharp stopped down.

I've PM'ed Adam and asked him to suspend this post. This item needs a cooling off period so the OP can have time to re-think this. The man is obviously running a fever or not in full posession of his faculties. :-D

At some point down the road I know I WILL hate myself for selling it. I better like this job as it's accompanied by a lot of pain (see my FA 250-600 listing too, and my A 50 f1.2 will be coming tomorrow )

I too own a Pentax A 85mm f1.4. It's spits out magic and moonbeams at f/2 . I sold my FA 77mm Ltd after I got this lens.

I also own the 85mm and 100mm Zeiss ZF lenses (Leitax converted to K mount). These Zeiss lenses are terrific and are also highly rated. Frankly, if forced to choose between my Z85, Z100 and A85, I would probably choose my A 85mm f1.4 ! This may be the best lens I've ever owned.

I just bought an A85/1.4 as a Xmas present to myself, wish you had put this up for sale a few months earlier! Yours looks like a real beauty.

I also have the K85/1.8 & FA77/1.8 and like the A85/1.4 the best overall, it's an amazing lens to handle and has superb optics.

Good luck with you sale!

Phil.
