Item Description
I've got more strobes than I need right now, so I'm selling the Einstein to help fund a new camera purchase. If you're interested in freezing action, then the Einstein is the best choice you have in studio strobes until you get near $10,000. It uses some fancy circuitry to get an extremely short flash duration, which is what allows it to freeze action so well.
Here's a couple interesting reviews you can read that explain why the Einstein is such a champ at freezing action:
Rob Galbraith DPI: Stopping action with the Paul C. Buff Einstein 640 monolight Freezing Action With an Einstein Monolight
And here's an action photo from the first review that was lit with Einsteins:
Here's some interesting commentary from the review in regards to that photo:
"The hurdler is leaping at close to competition speed, the camera is stationary and the framing is tight, which means subject movement across the frame is considerable. From shooting this in daylight, we know that a shutter speed below about 1/5000 (yes, 1/5000!) will lead to subject motion blur. This is a sports flash torture test, and the Einstein 640 was able to stop the action completely at 80ws. It came darned close at 160ws too."
I've only been using the flash for a few months in my home studio, so it only has around 2600 clicks on it (there is a counter in the menus). I'll keep using it until it sells, so the count may go up a bit more. As you can see, it still has the protective film over the LCD screen.
The flash comes as pictured with the diffuser, the cap, and the carrying case, as well as a Paul C. Buff CyberSync transceiver for wireless and high speed triggering.
