Condition

Glass, and aperture are great. No marks, no haze, no fungus, no oil. The mount and contact points look perfect.
Mechanically the lens is 100%. The focus ring moves smoothly, just as it should, and the ring rubber shows no wear. Body is in very good shape. There a few silver markings between the focus markings on the lens barrel. The previous owner used the lens for academic endeavors. He made precise focus measurements and marked them on the lens. The marks don't effect the lens in any way other than aesthetically. They are visible in the attached pictures.

Why I'm selling it

Last summer I went on a 5 month RV trip across the USA. I wanted a full frame, fast, ultra-wide lens for my K-1. Now that the trip is over, and I've settled down in a new town, I'm selling it.

About the lens

Full Frame Compatible. K-1 Compatible!

I ended up only taking a handful of pictures with this lens.
Here's a pic that I took with the lens...

This lens is very well rated among Pentax forum members with an overall 8.9 out of 10 rating.

Samyang 14mm F2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens Reviews - Samyang Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database

Lastly, Pentax Forums staff rated this lens higher than the Pentax DA 14mm 2.8 in their in-depth comparison.

How big is this lens? Is it a monster?

It's surprisingly small for an ultra-wide lens this fast. Here's a comparison between the this lens and the D-FA 15-30 on my K-1.

bump.

Yesterday I tested the lens (and the other UWA Samyang I'm selling in the marketplace) for decentering, which is a problem that often plagues Samyang lenses.

The result: Optically the lens seems perfect. No signs decentering.

I'm curious; you had the Vivitar branded 13mm f2.8 and now this 14mm. Both are made by the same company. Did you notice any difference in the field of view with the Vivitar vs. this lens?

I'm not in the market but wanted to hear from someone that had both lenses.

No difference. In listing both lenses I'd forgotten about the concern of decentering with these lenses. Someone asked be about it so I set up a test scene and had my K-1 tripod mounted and tested both lenses. There was no noticeable difference in field of view.
