Item Description
Hard to find lens is a near-perfect combination of close focus, near-infinity performance, and size.

Cosmetically, this lens is a bit rough, mostly in that the paint has been worn off in a number of spots and then repainted with a more glossy black paint... More noticeable in bright sunshine.

The glass elements are clean and free from haze or other damage, with the exception of a couple of small pieces of dust on one of the middle elements and a ring of tiny bubbles around the very outside of one of the middle elements. It's a bit hard to explain, but these "bubbles" are miniscule, have no effect on image quality, and are not visible even stopped down half a stop. It's probably small imperfections in the coating.

Mechanically the lens works without problem. The aperture blades are snappy and clear from oil.

This lens, while a bit rough cosmetically, has given me a bunch of wonderful pictures and has never let me down with its performance.

Really, no takers? This lens is a good performer, and much lighter and more manageable than the 1:1 macros. I have gotten great results from this lens, and the cosmetic damage really isn't severe, I only describe it in such detail to avoid any problems later (the KEH approach to lens selling). I would describe this as perfect as a user copy, less so as a collector's copy. But most of us buy lenses to use them, no?

I'm surprised that somebody hasn't snatched this one up yet, as the price is right. If you need 1:1 or greater, you might be able to slap a Raynox closeup attachment onto it; I haven't tried it, but it's just a thought. Remember, it does have the A setting on it, which will make metering a lot easier than the M version.

Hapo, I hope that helps.

Thanks Heather, for the good word. I agree, it really is a nice lens. I dropped the price to help somebody own this fine optic.

That's a good price. If I didn't already have the SMC Takumar 100mm f/4 macro, I'd get this one.
