3 Legged Thing AirHed 2 Magnesium Alloy ball head

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
3 Legged Thing AirHed 2 Magnesium Alloy ball head

Asking Price
100.00 USD

Item Location
Ohio (United States)

Item Description
This Airhed 2 is in like new condition, I only used it once or twice for indoor photos. Since I shoot mostly wildlife, I opted for a gimbal head instead of a ball head. This ball head is well built, smooth and looks great. This head is selling new on ebay for $195, but I'm just looking to find a good home for it, since it's not being used.

Company Description:

The Evolution 2 AirHed 2 is our cleverly redesigned and lovingly engineered large capacity ballhead with ultra smooth panning, enlarged locking knob for greater grip and new triple bubble system, lighter than before whilst being built to withstand loads of up to 40Kg! (Don'tbelieve the load capacity, I sure don't)

Included:

AirHed 2 ,

AirHed 2 Oversized Release Plate*

Bigger and better redesigned AirHed with ultra smooth panning, enlarged locking knob for greater grip and new triple bubble system, lighter casing and now with 40kg load capacity.

*The AH2 Oversized Plate is designed to give you greater control of your camera balance, by enabling 10mm more lateral movement through the clamp.

AIRHED 2 BALLHEAD SPECIFICATIONS:

Ballhead Control: Pan, Lock & Clutch

Ballhead Height: 93mm

Base Width: 52mm

Ball Diameter: 41mm

Ballhead Weight: 388g

Load Capacity: 40kg . . . . . . Not sure how they came to this but that might be compression weight, not equipment weight.

Plate Weight: 56g

It is tempting but I'd have to sell one of my existing one's to buy this and I don't have any complaints about the existing heads. This is a really nice looking and well reviewed head however.

Thanks for looking UncleV, I'm sure your current ball heads fill your need. This would be great for someone moving up from a cheap Chinese ball head, or some looking to upgrade from an entry level head.

What makes one entry-level and what makes this one better? I have two Sirui tripods, one with a Sirui head and thenother has a Joby Ballhead X. I donít think the Joby isnít really meant for anything larger than my film 35mm or DSLR. I wouldnít put my 645n or 6x7 on it.

I would say the level of detail in construction, smoothness, load capability, leveling bubbles, pan/lock/clutch control, and materials. This is a magnesium head, which is stronger, lighter and more expensive metal than aluminum. Also, the plate has a safety ridge so it cannot slip out of the quick release. Lastly, it has a lot of bling. The 6x7 and 645n weigh in at approximately 3 lbs., add a 2 lbs for a lens = 5 lbs. This ball head will easily handle that weight and more.
