WTH does how wide it is (or isn't) have to do with it's price?

Question. Why is this lens so expensive? Maybe it's the good optical properties and fast aperture; but it's not incredibly wide.
Anyway, I hardly consider $300 (price new) expensive for a high quality piece of glass (I owned the 35mm f/2 as well as the 50mm f/1.4)

And yes, $240 is a pretty good price for this lens.

If I didn't already have the 31, I would grab this one in a minute! Great lens, great price! Hang in there, someone will buy it. If not, maybe I will to sell it later at $395!!!

Sorry am quite new to this.
I presume as a fast lens this would be suitable as an indoor lens?

I am very tempted, to couple with a slower zoom for outdoor stuff.

Cheers,
Charlie
