Recent Test Photos from K100D (last weekend)

I want to post some recent photos from my camera. This little K100D camera can do great in JPG in high iso 400 and 800 with very low noise pictures. And I use it as a backup to my K10D and it is great in traveling with lighter weight in a compact body. Some recent photos from last weekend with both Pentax FA 50 f/1.4 and Pentax DA 50-200 f/4.0-5.6

About the free Quantaray 28-90 macro zoom

It is free to the K100D purchase. It is not the best zoom, much lower in quality than the Pentax kit's lens in terms of sharpness. But it does have nice macro in 90mm end with 1:2.3 ratio. The range is very useful in 28-90 and it comes with a 55mm rubber lens hood and 55mm UV filter. A free lens hopefully no complaint and reasonable startup kit with the K100D, I highly recommend the kit's lens and DA 50-200 to go with the K100D body along with a FA 50 f/1.4 as a inexpensive entry level but very powerful and capable dSLR which shines especially for JPG and high ISO pictures

Various updates:

1. K100D is lowered to $270 with free lens

Buyer can choose to get the Quantaray 28-90 1:2.3 Macro zoom for free

2. Kenko 2x Macro is lowered to $80

This is the identical macro converter like the Vivitar 2x Macro. It turns any 50mm prime to a 1:1 Macro and it can also be used as 2x TC

3. Pentax DA 50-200 is reserved

I will contact Danny09 and if he has problems finding a new/used copy of DA 50-200. My apology to him is not good enough and he seems genuinely interested in my zoom

4. Quantaray 28-90 f/3.5-5.6 1:2.3 Macro zoom is listed and can be bought as a separate item for $20 + shipping

Thank you for the PM and interest. The previous user act on the deal and sale is pending with local pickup for both K100D and Quantaray 28-90 zoom.

And Danny09 found his DA 50-200 and I will keep it for myself and my boys.

The Kenko 2x Macro Converter is still available, it turns any 50mm to 1:1 Macro and a 100mm prime with 2 stop loss.

Only Kenko 2x Macro is left

I reported this before with forum using Kenko 2x 1:1 Macro Teleplus MC7 with 2 copies of 50mm prime. The converter works quite well in turning an ordinary 50mm to 1:1 macro lens along with reasonable results as a 2x TC in turning a 50mm to 100mm with a 2 stop loss of light, it works quite alright with the FA 50 f/1.4 when I test it. The known caveats on the 2x macro is on the CA noted in wide open aperture and some light to obvious vignetting again in wide open aperture. In good lighting, those issues don't matter much.

My impressions with the Kenko Teleplus 2x Macro with FA 50 f/1.4 is positive though I find some vignetting and CA in wide open apertures when I used it with FA 50 f/1.4. But overall, the adapter brings my beloved 50mm prime up a notch for fun. All six images are shot with the adapter and FA 50 f/1.4 in iso 200/400 with aperture ranging from 7.1 to 11. It is very windy in harsh lighting around 3 when I took a coffee break with no coffee.

I think I can recommend the Kenko Teleplus 2x Macro to others especially for those having a difficult time in finding/bidding the Vivitor 2x Macro. My version has the electrical contacts and all metering works and trap focus work extremely well for me.
Discussions of Vivitar 2x Macro can be seen in Lens thread

Thank you Danny for the kind words. The DA 50-200 is my most used lens in that range. My LBA on-going saga lead to three similar lens and I am yet to get a Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f/3.5 from Tokina as the Version #2 in the series. I tried the Vivitar Series 1 from Kiron (version #1) and sold it due to its sheer weight at 879 g, and now I am getting the series 1 from Tokina with smaller weight at 710g. Life is exciting with new gear. The version #1 from Kiron is already phenomenal when I tried it. I live close by to you in Fremont, we should get together in Fry's coffee shop sometime.

But out of the 3 similar zooms in 45-210 range (would be 4 after the Tokina series 1 delivery), I use my DA 50-200 the most often. It is not the sharpest in the bunch but it has the most useful range and when stopped down properly to f/8.0 to f/11, the lens does well for me. The strength of this zoom is on its low cost with AF and its best is on the light weight and compact in size. It is not much bigger than the kit's lens except the lens hood. I have no hesitation in recommending the DA 50-200.

The Kenko 2x 1:1 Macro Teleplus MC7 is still available. I am still waiting for another PM and I will entertain reasonable offer.

Kenko 2x 1:1 Macro Teleplus MC7 -- Hin's Tech Corner

Thanks,
Hin

I have lowered down the price from $80 to $70. If you are looking for a 2x converter that works with your FA 50 f/1.4 or your other manual 50mm f/1.7 and f/1.4, this converter will shine in converting a normal 50mm into a 1:1 Macro lens

Thanks,
Hin
