Full Frame Sigma 17-35 f2.8-f4 and Crop DA50 f1.8

Full Frame Sigma 17-35 f2.8-f4 and Crop DA50 f1.8

Hi all,

I'm not using these lenses as much as I thought I was going to so it's time to go.

The Sigma is a surprisingly good lens considering how much less it weighs and how much smaller it is than the DFA15-30. It's sharp, has good detail and has good color. It's a bit more prone to flare vs the DFA but then most lenses are not as well coated as what Pentax provides. Comes with a lens case, a better rear cap (I hate Sigma rear caps) and a pinch front cap. There is a slight scuff on the lens hood (pictured) but it's nothing serious.
Sigma EX17-35 F2.8-F4 with 82mm front threads
$ 225 with Free Shipping to the lower 48. All others, please pm for shipping quote.

The DA50 SOLD is a well known quantity - most of us who have been shooting a while pretty much always recommend this lens to people starting out without a prime. It's an amazing bargain and having a good prime can really change how you approach and evaluate photography. This lens is super light and small it's so easy to have with you all the time. If you ever need to control depth of field a bit more for portraits or if you're shooting in lower light and you don't want to kick your camera up to higher iso's, this is a great lens to have. In many indoor situations (like Thanksgiving), I'm often shooting at iso3200, 1/40th at f4. But if I was shooting at f2, I could be shooting at iso1600 and at 1/80th. So way less noise and a faster shutterspeed to reduce motion blur a lot.
Comes with front and rear caps, box, paperwork,

How does the Sigma compare to the Pentax FA 20-35?

Do you have samples of starbursts shot with it?

Sorry, I don't have the Pentax version. I'll have to see later tonight if I can find pics w/ starbursts - I'm pretty sure I took some handheld night shots so I might have something.

Thanks,
Mike

Looks like I don't have any starburst shots since I was shooting handheld that day, I didn't do anything with small apertures and long exposure.

Here are the links to some pics taken with the 17-35 by Sigma if you want to see them in high res - I feel like the pics on Pentax Forums are soft. This first one has some small starbursts

These great lenses still for sale. When you're wanting something small compared to the alternatives as well as much less expensive, these should be near the top of your list!
