Selling my FA* 400mm f/5.6

It has a problem of decentered optics (the reason for the price and 'damaged' condition).
It is still usable closing the the lens.
From f/8, F/9 it seems to be OK (see the samples)

Glass is OK without scratches, fog or fungus.
The Body has some marks and superficial scratches, not many.

The included hood has problems attatching it to the lens (see pictures)

Out of curiosity, would there be any way to fix decentered optics? I assume that Pentax or Precision wouldn't take it to fix it. Not trying to take this off-topic but genuinely curious.

Hi Mickey,

The service who told me the decentering problem, also told me they could not repair it because they did't have the needed parts (not available anymore).
So I presume If you have spare parts (another copy in worst conditions) the lens could be fixed.

Ah, I see. Unfortunately I had no intention of buying, I don't have the money to buy anything and I'm currently in the "selling everything I don't need" mode, but I was just curious if decentering was repairable. Thanks for the answer.

Why Europe only?

Hi Mark,

The reason to ship only to Europe is to avoid customs.
But as returns are not accepted and if the buyer is aware that customs are buyers responsibility, I don't have any problem accepting shipping outside Europe.

There never is a customs problem in the US. USPS generally does not bother to collect the 2% duty that is levy-able on imports from non-"most favored nations".

What a shame. Lovely lens. I have the A version that I would've been willing to cannabalize but it has 7 elements in 6 groups whereas the FA is 9/8.. I would've thought that correcting a de-centered lens would only involve jiggling of elements.
