Item Description
I am selling this wonderful lens that I just acquired here on the PF
a few weeks ago. It looks and works wonderful but unfortunately I
have come to the realization that my partial disability prevents me
from doing the kind of photography I used to do. I have decided to just
use 1 lens as the days of carrying around multiple lenses including
very heavy ones is over. I am sure my photos will suffer some but at
least I will still be able to take some photos. It comes with everything
you see and I can send you a link to the owners manual if need be.
I could only find just a few blemishes (see last photo) but overall this
lens is in incredible condition. Thank you for taking the time to look at my lens.

Oh no! I was so glad you had it!

I'm sorry you can't use it the way you would like, Paul.

I hope you get your price.

If anyone has any questions about the lens that Paul can't answer, as he hasn't had it very long, please feel free to message me

Guessing this is the one you sold when you got your 150-500? Would you mind letting me know what you liked better about each lens? And what kind of photography do you do with your 150-500? I have the Sigma 70-300, but just can't get enough reach out of it to get the birds in my neighbor'a trees, and our small yard has no trees.

They are both very nice lenses, with the 120-400 being a bit easier for most folks to use hand held. With the 150-500, I get better results tripod mounted with the in lens OS on while with the 120-400 I found that IBIS on a KP was better. I have albums using both. Yes, this is the lens I sold when I got the 150-500mm. I do primarily bird shots with both; I have other lenses for landscape/architectural/sightseeing stuff. The 120-400mm is, hands down, easier to handle, just by the weight alone, especially for me. I had a pretty good neck injury that resulted in surgery and a loss of strength and feeling in my left arm that I'm still rehabilitating for, so the 150-500mm is significantly more challenging, particularly on long days of birding. The 120-400 was sharp out to about 350mm, although not bad at all at 400. The 150-500 is, as I expected sharp out to 400/450, and still pretty good at 500mm, but the 120-400 locked on the AF quicker, without question. Both really improve when you take them down one f/stop. This was easier to do with the 400, as it is a faster lens (by one f/stop), but the additional 100mm reach on the 500 is really handy. This is very much a "pick your poison" equation, but, without a doubt, I absolutely LOVED that 120-400mm and consider it perhaps the best "lucky get" I ever had where photography gear is concerned. My romance with the 150-500mm is still.... developing... but we're becoming VERY close.

Sigma 120-400

Thanks Mike for answering these questions for people since I have
not had it very long since buying from you. I am torn about selling
it and some have suggested ways to me that might help me carry
it better. Its just with my all in one lens that is much lighter to carry
that is why I am compelled to let it go. I do also still have dreams of
owning the Full Frame K-1 II some day and this lens being full frame
and in such incredible condition I am struggling more than just physically.
Thanks for all the help Mike I and the others I know appreciate it, Paul

I would also trade this lens straight across for these
SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited in working order
or the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM (Art) in working order
