I am curious about the 28-300 XR Di lens. How well does it work with the Pentax K100D? Does it hunt while auto-focusing? At f/6.3, it must take a long time to focus and may not be able to focus at times, correct? And how about the shutter speeds?

Ive never used my 28-300 on my K100D (only on my K10D) but I dont know why it would hunt while autofocusing just because it is on the K100D. As for the focal length of 6.3, of course at lower light levels its going to be difficult to focus, as on any body, including the K10D. I do not understand your question about shutter speeds. Of course an appropriate shutter speed must be selected for proper exposure and conditions.
