I see some images -- 2 of the lens, one lady's portrait, and 3 of a toy at different apertures.

Does the 'Auto' mean auto metering? I see no A setting on the aperture ring...

"Yes" on a film body, "no" on a digital body.

Hi,

The lens is like a Pentax K bayonet, so in the film body it as the auto metering but in the digital body you have to use the stop down aperture metering function.

The "Auto" on the lens refers to Auto-aperture as opposed to manual or pre-set aperture and has nothing to do with automatic exposure. The lens is normally wide open for focusing, will automatically stop down just prior to the shutter opening, and will automatically open again.

This type of lens labeling is common for vintage (and some not-so-vintage) lenses. At one time auto-aperture was a premium feature and was prominently declared as a result.
