It's well worth considering this over the f2 version.
Pros and cons Peter.

At F/1.2 the DOF is so small that it's not easy to focus correctly.

If your using it at F/1.2 because your shooting avail light, again it's not easy to focus.

Then the DOF issue comes in.

You have such little DOF that DOF control is all you really have.

Finally, the Cosina 55mm 1.2 is avail used quite a bit. And for at least 1/2 the price.

So why buy this lens? Don't know? But why by any well built high quality lens with a super bright viewing aperture and the impeccable SMC coating?

I think the problem is though like the 85mm 1.4 that gets a daily bump, this lens is just too costly for the current market. Last year when 500,000 more people had jobs, and the employed weren't wondering if/when they were going to be unemployed this lens wouldn't have lasted a 2 days!

A lot of people do not understand the beauty of premium lenses like this one. F1.2 is not just about its aperture being so bright. There is more to this lens like its light glow wide open, its ability to blurr the background bokeh very different from the f1.4 version and the beautiful build of this amazing lens.

Seriously so many good and legendary pentax lenses have been trashed by the people who believe a kit lens will do the job. kit lenses can produce great shots in the right hands. But kit lens are not near the level of the capability of this lens!

True, look at the photos in https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/41357-cosina-5...-2-club-2.html to see what f1.2 can do

And this K might be a better lens.
