Item Description
Auto Vivitar 200mm F/3.5!

Here we have an Auto Vivitar M42 mount 200mm F/3.5 Prime Telephoto lens in excellent condition. All glass is clean and clear with no haze, fog, or fungus. Aperture blades are oil free and very snappy. This is a very well built piece of glass. All metal construction, big & heavy! Includes original front cap and a generic rear cap. Also includes nice hard sided, padded case that is in real good shape and can hold the lens with a 2x Teleconverter attached [TC not included]. Case has a bit of curling up of the "leather" on the top of the case. Absolutely no disappointments here!

Bump!

A big fast prime lens, with a case and caps even. You can probably get one of these on eBay for less, but will it be this clean? Will it be Komine built? I'll miss this lens when it's gone.

Regards,
Mike

Nice lens! The only drawback is that it's heavy, but that's because there's a lot of good glass & steel. Very sharp Komine-built telephoto.

Link.

I've got the Komine and the Tokina version of this lens... and the Komine is a baby next to the Tokina. The Tokina is much larger and heavier (and has a tripod mount.)

I am waiting for my K20D to get repaired to do some serious comparisons, but the Komine looks pretty nice so far.

I've got this same lens too, and am happy with it. I had a Hanimex 200mm f/3.5 that performed well, but not as well as this Vivitar, so I sold it and kept the Viv. I think M42 mount is an advantage vs K mount as you can shoot in Av. I'm happy I found a clean, mint copy, and anyone considering the lens should bear in mind that the copy being offered is also in great condition, which is important for a lens of this age.

Might be noteworthy to point out that it features an 8-blade aperture, which helps with bokeh. Many of these lenses just go with 6 blades.
