That's the 2.8 currently being auctioned. I bought the 4.5 a few weeks back and although it's a terrific lens, the 2.8 should be even better.

I did bid on this one before it got out of my range, but another member here is after it. Hope he gets it. I'd love to see what he could produce with the 2.8

Yes, $2889 was the final price (including S/H), but you can only get a Sigma 300/2.8 for that price, and I don't think it's as sharp as the FA*.

I wanted the faster lens so I can mount teleconvertors to it, and still have a relatively fast longer focal length. However, the lens is so sharp, it's hard to find a TC that can match it - I'll lose image quality no matter what...
