[SOLD] Pentax-A 100mm f4 macro 1:2

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Pentax-A 100mm f4 macro 1:2

Asking Price
$185

Item Description
Pentax-A 100mm f4 macro lens, in great condition. Aperture blades are clean and snappy. This body of the lens is in like-new condition... I hate to get rid of it, but have too many macro lenses and one of them has got to go!
The only imperfection I can find with this lens is a minor hazing between the two front cemented elements. This is a common occurrence with this particular lens, and in this case shouldn't affect the image quality whatsoever. I put a picture to try and show the fogging (I am almost positive this is a coating defect, not fungus). Like I said, it's very faint, and you really have to look for it to notice it. I have owned this lens for a couple of years now and it doesn't seem to have gotten any worse.

See this thread about some similar lenses:

Bump to active. This lens is considered to have some of the best bokeh of any macro lens, due to its design.

bump, nice lens

Owned M100/4 macro and it is a very nice lens.

M100/4 macro is known for this issue for a long time because of the glue material used at that time. My copy also has some haze between the front two but it is not noticeable without strong light going through. But it seems not affecting imaging it you do not shoot direct light. Here is one of my pics with this lens,

Heard it is because the humidity is too low and the glue evaporates. Thus, warm/heat should worse this.

Seems A100/4 also has this issue. Wonder if K100/4 macro or T100/4 macro has the similar problem.

Ken's review, and the comments are for the Pentax-M, yours is the Pentax-A, are they optically the same?

yes. they are both 5 elements in 3 groups. optically identical. the only thing that really sets them apart (other than more plastic and A series cosmetic changes) is the 'A' contacts to allow for use of Av, TV, etc.
