Sigma 135-400 4.5-5.6 APO DG

Lens comes with front and rear caps only. (..it has 77mm filter threads so a screw-on hood will work or sigma hoods for this lens can be found at the big auction site..)

Body is in good shape..see photos.

Zoom is fast...actually zoom-creeps very easily, I used a wide rubber band to keep it in place...worked for me (..and nobody ever questioned me about it..).

Focus seems stiff when used manually (..rarely ever used it manually..) but never had an issue when using autofocus on K1 K5iis or the K5.

Like the focus, aperture ring feels rather stiff when used manually...but as above I rarely used it manually, has been set to 'A' for years and no issues there.

Front and rear glass is clean and free of any obvious scratches or cleaning marks.

The reason for the 'Poor' rating is the start of some fungus on one of the inner elements...see photos. Please note that not all the spots you see is fungus, much of that is dust illuminated by the harsh light...most older lenses have internal dust.

If you are on a budget, this is still a good lens with life left to it. Not modern but has plenty of reach...more-so if you mount it onto a crop sensor camera (..if my math is right, giving you something that is approx 190-600mm..)

The sample photos were all taken within the last couple days. All are jpgs sooc, only size reduced to save space.
Tried getting photos of the fungus, not the best. If you are really interested in the lens, message me and I'll try to get you a couple better shots.

Note: the quick release plate seen in several of the images is not included.

Am sure that I snapped a few bird shots off the back porch over the years but I'd be hard pressed to find them right now. I had bought the lens primarily for more reach while at the horse shows I cover. That honestly didn't work out so well either. 400mm was good (..350mm is the max I typically extended to..) but 135mm turned out to be too long when the riders are close. Also, my usual lenses for the shows are the DFA 24-70 and the DFA 70-200, both SDM, so the old screw drive on this lens was annoying. I kept it 'just in case' but at this point don't expect there to be a need. With all that said, it looks to be a nice day today, if I have the time will take it out and see if I can snap a couple birds with it for you.
