I used it to scan 35mm film with my DSLR and a macro lens. Everything works as it should, I tested it today to confirm, and there are nothing except superficial minor scratches on the glossy top, which are not visible in any way when using. The size of the lit area is 8.7 x 6.3". The color temperature is 5000k which makes it good for scanning or viewing film. By holding the power button you can adjust brightness. There's a built in battery. A switch on the side allows to choose between using USB power (micro connector) or the battery; select the battery and connect a USB power supply to charge.
