I do realize this lens is a bit of a unicorn made almost entirely of unobtanium, but I am looking for a SMC Pentax-A* 85mm f/1.4 lens in excellent condition. Bonus points for a copy that comes with the original MH-RA lens hood.

Thanks for offering up your Sigma - I'm going to hold out here for the Pentax version (or break down and just buy one from Japan off eBay).

Kevin Cameras in LA has one, though it's overpriced at $2000.00. It's in nice shape and comes with the case.

The one at Kevin Cameras is a really nice copy, but almost 2x fair market value.

Unfortunately pretty well all the Pentax gear on this site is twice the going price.

I sold mine several years ago. Absolutely pristine. I loved that lens but eyesight made it hard to get value from. I ended up with both an fa 31 and an fa 77 from the proceeds. I think I made the right choice. But yeah it is a fine lens and a thing of beauty to hold.

I have one that I am reluctant to let go of, but as I now have the D FA* 85/1.4, I suspect the poor thing is destined to sit unused and unloved in a camera bag until I die, so I should probably let it go.
It's in very nice condition, it's clean, no fungus, everything works as it should. I bought it used some 15 years ago. It did not come with original packaging or the stock hood, so all I have is the lens.

It says f/4 but of course it's f/1.4 and it's in the UK, but worth looking at.

If you find an A* 85 I might be talked out of my extra hood. I no longer own the A* 85 and actually use the hood on several lenses including my 50-135 but I may be willing to pry with it and obtain an alternative hood.

And yes that lid is a perfect fit.
